On May 15, 2026, at the Traditional Hall, Saigon Technology University (STU) welcomed and held a meeting with a delegation from the University of Barcelona (Spain) as part of a bilateral working program aimed at promoting international educational cooperation between Vietnam and Spain.

The meeting was attended by STU’s Board of Rectors and representatives from various affiliated units, including:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao Hao Thi – President of the University,
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Kim Anh – Vice President,
- Dr. Nguyen Tung Lam – Director of International Training Program Center (ITPC),
- Dr. Hoang Trung Tien – Head of the Department of Scientific Research and Graduate Education,
- Dr. Nguyen Dang Hai Dang and M.A. Dao Duc Luan – Department of Scientific Research and Graduate Education.

Representing the University of Barcelona were:
- Mr. Joan Guardia Olmos – President of the University,
- Dr. Raul Ramos Lobo – Vice President for International Policy,
- Mr. Ander Errasti – Chief of Staff to the President,
- Ms. Lluna Baltasar – Director of External Affairs & Relations with Institutes,
- Mr. Sergi Martinez-Rigol – Director of the Student Affairs & International Relations Office,
- Mr. José Sánchez-Barroso – Special Advisor and Member of the International Advisory Board.

During the meeting, the University of Barcelona introduced its long-standing academic tradition of more than 575 years, its position as the top university in Spain, and its ranking among the world’s top 145 universities according to Times Higher Education (THE). The delegation also shared information about its academic strengths, research environment in Barcelona, and international development strategies, particularly its future focus on strengthening cooperation with Asian countries.

STU representatives presented an overview of the university’s establishment and development, highlighting its strengths in education, scientific research, and achievements in international cooperation with institutes and universities in Taiwan, Thailand, India, Canada, and other countries.

In the in-depth discussion session, both sides exchanged ideas on potential areas of collaboration, including the co-organization of international conferences and seminars. In addition, the two universities discussed opportunities for scientific research cooperation, implementation of joint research projects, technology transfer, and academic collaboration programs.


The meeting took place in an open and positive atmosphere and achieved many significant outcomes, opening up long-term cooperation opportunities between STU and the University of Barcelona. This event is one of the practical activities contributing to affirming STU’s internationalization strategy in higher education, while also enhancing training quality and creating opportunities for students to access high-quality learning and research environments in the future.
